The Big Island, Hawaii
Hawaii is a truly magical place and I search to find a special connection with its spirit. Spending three weeks on the Big Island searching every beach and cove for the perfect shot, I knew at this remote beach something would happen. I set up at sunrise in total darkness at this isolated spot. Waves crashed constantly on the shore and I watched in awe as the sunrise swirled across the sky. A one-second exposure gave me the painterly feel and I pressed the shutter as this wave formed. The combination of the turquoise blue, golden skies and green palms really looked like a painting. It takes me right back to the moment.
