Twilight

I am truly awed when faced with photographing the unpredictable moods of the ocean. To capture this image I had travelled to Orpheus Island in the hope of a dramatic dawn shot. I awoke to a roaring ocean, and made my way by feeble torchlight to the rocky shores of this isolated bay. As the first streaks of colour began to light the sky, I set my tripod and waited for the relentless rhythms of the incoming tide to create the effect I was hoping for. In the very instant the sun rose above the horizon, I instinctively depressed the shutter, and I knew I had got the shot I wanted. As I knelt on the deserted foreshores, sunrise lifted the shroud of darkness before my eyes and I witnessed the true dawning of a new day.
