I took this shot at Red Rock Canyon which is very close to where I live. What’s special about it is the contrasting elements. The snow in the desert, the bright sunlight making the mountains look like glowing embers, and the streaks of clouds playing across the whole scene and making it much more spectacular and painterly. The best photographs are always when several things come together all at once and that was certainly the case here. As I pressed the shutter I knew I’d captured a unique moment.
